The systematic approach ensured that the effects of these diets could be evaluated with greater accuracy, particularly regarding their influence on brain health.

The green Mediterranean diet – characterized by a higher intake of plant foods and reduced meat consumption – appeared particularly beneficial. The research pointed to a significant trend: those consuming green tea and Mankai duckweed shakes, integral components of this dietary pattern, experienced the least brain tissue deterioration. This observation raises intriguing questions about the protective effects of plant-based diets on cognitive aging.

According to Shai, the polyphenols present in many plant foods may facilitate neuroprotection by crossing the blood-brain barrier.
